Marry me in Verona
I’m so lucky to live in a city which is a real open air museum, a city which has been awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO and world-famous as The City of Love, since three of Shakespeare's plays are set in Verona, Romeo and Juliet above all.
Everything happened so fast in July, I had the chance to “meet” via Skype this amazing couple, now newlyweds, from the USA. It was the end of June Shon the groom-to-be had a working travel planned for the month of July in Verona, and the couple thought it was the perfect opportunity for a Destination Wedding just for the two of them.
In the early beginning I was a bit worried, mostly for all the papers and offices we’d have to go through in less than three days and a bit because it was peak season for the Lyric and most of the venues and everything else was fully booked from the previous year.
As soon as I spoke with them, I think I got what they really want, an intimate personal and romantic wedding just for the two of them, to make everything all about the true essence of their love.
Sometimes in the frenzy of all the planning it is easy to forget that being married is all about understanding and loving one other for who and what you are, saying it out loud, relax and enjoy one of most important and life-changing day.
They didn’t want all the hustle and bustle, the pomp of a great wedding, they’d like something very nice and simply-chic, and make a statement out of it, we are truly madly deeply in love, that is it, that is all.
We made it, from the moment they landed in Milan and met, we rushed from the US Embassy to Verona Courthouse, from local Prefecture to Verona Town hall, but we made it. It turned out it was one the destination wedding I love the most, Shon and Neha were amazing despite tiredness and long days they were always kind, always nice, always smiling.
They enjoy all the moments leading up to their Destination wedding in Verona. That is the mood smile and Enjoy, sometimes it is easy to forget.
The wedding venue was Juliet’s House which is now a museum, full of history where love is actually palpable. Inside this venue, most of the common glamourous and glitzy decorations are strictly forbidden, but you don’t really need them.
The reception, an intimate gourmet dinner just for them was host among roman remains, inside and historical palace, a tasting of the best local food and wines.
I was with them for three days, especially with the bride, we got tired but we had fun, she gave me this feeling of serenity, I’ve never felt before with a bride on her wedding day.
We planned to get the groom ready inside the Hotel room.
while Neha and I went to fancy beauty parlor, a private room just for us;
She was enchanting, running a bit late,
Shon waiting for her, with the witness at Juliet’s house.
To reach the Juliet’s house, we choose to walk 500 MT, the car can’t get there.
It was quite an experience, all the people, turning their heads toward the alluring bride, applauding her, whishing her a happy life.
You should see the look on Shon’s face when he saw her; it was what you definitely call the “The Look of Love”.
They hold each’s other hand to walk down the aisle, there are no words to describe the emotions, and the shots could frame them.
I was acting as the interpreter, I had my emotional moments too, while sneak-peak and see them holding tight their hands.
We took a photographic walk to enjoy what the city has to offer.
